Chistol Lab Held Its First In-Person Lab Retreat in Bodega Bay CA

We finally held our first in-person lab retreat weekend in beautiful Bodega Bay CA. Activities included gourmet cooking, drinking, napping, hiking, card games (Exploding Kittens, Cards Against Humanity). Unfortunately the night skies were cloudy so we didn't do much star-gazing and carried around a big telescope for no reason. We can't wait till the next year's retreat.

Gheorghe Receives the NSF CAREER Award

01-Feb-2022: Gheorghe has received the prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award - our lab's first federal grant! It supports early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. This grant will support our lab's efforts to dissect the mysterious process or replication initiation in vertebrates. This project will also provide biotechnology training opportunities for high school teachers and students.
